Newfoundland and Labrador currently has two pieces of legislation that govern tobacco issues in the Province. The Smoke Free Environment Act 2005, directs where tobacco use is allowed in the Province.
In addition, the Tobacco and Vapour Products Control Act directs how and where tobacco can be sold and distributed in the Province.
Newfoundland and Labrador also follows tobacco laws outlined by the Canadian Government. The Tobacco and Vaping Products Act (TVPA) was enacted on May 23, 2018, to regulate the manufacture, sale, labelling and promotion of tobacco products and vaping products sold in Canada.
